A cage can fit the advertised width, depth and height yet provide less usable room than a buyer expected—or require more room to operate than the dimensions suggest. Overall size, usable interior, installation footprint, operating clearance and packed size answer different questions.
Five dimension envelopes a buyer may need
| Dimension set | What it should describe | Main buying decision |
|---|---|---|
| Overall / external size | The maximum finished width × depth × height, with included roofs, stands, wheels, handles or guards clearly identified. | Will the completed cage fit the intended area? |
| Usable interior | The clear bird-occupiable space after frames, tray housings, floor grilles, dividers and external features are excluded. | How much practical room remains for the bird and accessories? |
| Installation footprint | The floor or wall area occupied in the normal closed position, including stabilisers, seed guards and required support structure. | Can the cage stand or mount safely in the available space? |
| Operating clearance | Extra room needed to open doors, pull trays, slide acrylic, remove bowls, turn wheels and reach cleaning areas. | Can the owner use and clean the cage after installation? |
| Packed dimensions | The number, length, width, height and gross weight of each protected package, panel, crate or pallet. | Can the shipment travel through the carrier and delivery route? |
Always define the dimension order
Bật Mạnh uses width × depth × height unless a drawing states otherwise. Width is normally the left-to-right dimension when facing the main door; depth runs from front to back; height runs from the supporting surface to the stated highest point.
International catalogues do not all use the same order. “60 × 60 × 150 cm” is unambiguous only when width, depth and height are labelled. A specification should also state whether height includes a stand, wheels, roof, lifting hook or play area.
Door frames, tray guides, roofs, dividers and tapered or decorative sections can change the clear space locally. Measure the completed internal envelope or use a verified production drawing.
Features that can reduce or interrupt usable interior space
Usable room is more than an empty rectangular volume
Bird-care guidance emphasises uncluttered room for wing movement and, where appropriate, flight. A long cage should preserve a clear horizontal route between its principal perches after feeders, service doors and toys are installed. A tall cage does not replace horizontal room when the intended movement is side to side.
For a multi-bird enclosure, quantity and separation can change the layout. For a bird with limited mobility, access to perches, food and water may be more important than a nominally larger but difficult vertical space. Bật Mạnh records the intended routine so the dimensions are not selected from an outside photograph alone.
Measure the cage in its operating positions
A product can fit between two walls and still be impossible to clean. Add separate clearance measurements for:
- The arc or outward projection of the main door.
- The full pull length of every waste tray and floor grille.
- External feeder doors, bowl removal and bird-transfer access.
- A removable acrylic frame sliding sideways, upward or forward.
- Wheel movement, brake access and any space needed to turn the cage.
- Hands, tools and fixings required for a wall rail or modular joint.
For a wall-mounted cage, record the cage projection from the finished wall, not only its body depth. Include the support rail, stand-off gap, rear acrylic and any front tray handle. The loaded cage must also remain compatible with the actual wall construction.
How to document an existing cage or installation area
- Choose one orientation. Stand in front of the main door and label width, depth and height.
- Measure the maximum outside points. Include protruding locks, hinges, roof details, handles or guards and note what produced each maximum.
- Measure the clear interior. Record the smallest useful width, depth and height in the bird area, not the tray housing.
- Measure door and service openings. Use the clear opening after the door, latch and frame are excluded.
- Extend removable parts fully. Measure the total envelope with trays, doors or acrylic in their working position.
- Photograph every reading. Include a full view and close-ups with the tape measure visible.
How to read the current Bật Mạnh dimensions
| Documented example | What the current page states | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| 50 cm compact flight cage | 50 × 30 × 30 cm for the documented completed configuration. | Verified usable interior, clear door opening and packed size. |
| 80 cm modular flight cage | Approximately 80 × 38 × 50 cm for the documented configuration. | Module size, usable interior, package dimensions and the largest carried piece. |
| 60 × 60 × 150 cm parrot cage | The current source identifies an overall 60 × 60 × 150 cm cage. | Interior cage height, stand/play-area scope, clear door size, weight and packing. |
| Five-compartment system | Five compartments are described as 50 × 50 × 80 cm each. | Whether every value is clear internal or external, plus total assembled and packed dimensions. |
A simple dimension drawing prevents expensive assumptions
A useful approval drawing does not need decorative rendering. It should show the front, side and top views; width, depth and height; usable interior; door openings; tray direction; dividers; stands or wheels; acrylic travel and the largest removable module. Number the dimensions and use the same numbers in the quotation.
When metric and imperial units are both supplied, one should remain the controlling production unit. Bật Mạnh fabricates from metric dimensions; inch values on English pages are comparison conversions unless the quotation states otherwise.
Before approving a custom size
- Confirm whether the requested numbers are maximum external limits or minimum usable interior requirements.
- Confirm which roof, stand, wheel, guard, divider and accessory is included.
- Check the operating clearance in the final location.
- Measure the complete delivery route for the finished cage or largest module.
- Keep unknown values marked “to be confirmed” rather than deriving them from photographs.
Apply these measurements when comparing long flight cages and parrot cages. Continue with the large-cage access-route measurement guide or send the information through the custom cage quote checklist.
Discuss the bird, cage and installation space
Send the bird species, target dimensions and clear photographs for an early technical discussion. Overseas transport is reviewed separately and is not presented as a standard checkout service.
